Dou' is a short film written and directed by Jing Zhao as the thesis from the London Film School. This is a China-UK co-production film shot in Beijing in September 2023.
The film 'Dou' is a contemporary adaptation of a folktale from 'LiaoZhai' written by Pusongling in 1740. It tells the story of a piano teacher who falls victim to her oppressive husband and transforms into a fox to seek revenge.
Kung Fu Grandma
Kung Fu Grandma is a short comedy film with a profound message - it is a story of an old lady who hopes to become a superwoman and fight against hate crimes, but struggles with the lack of real superpower. Through this short film, Martial Arts Education Society (MAES) would like to bring hope and positive energy to the audience, inspire them to make a difference, reduce hate crimes and bullying, and help create a safer and more peaceful living environment for everyone.
Kung Fu Scriptures
A 5-minute short comedy that will also be released as three mini-shorts aim to promote the three main values of self-defence - Awareness, Boundary and Counter. We follow the journey of an impatient girl trying to speed her way in mastering self-defense, when she is challenged by a group of heedless strangers, she must decide how to stand up for herself.
Having been supporting her family in China alone for decades, the dry-cleaning shop owner meets a new customer, who liberates her from the lonely and colourless life in this foreign land. As a loyal wife who has been sticking to her family responsibilities, she sows doubt in her belief...
